Welcome to the Town of Castle Rock!

The charming town of Castle Rock is located approximately 15 miles from southern metro Denver, and The Denver Technological Corridor where a large majority of high tech employment companies reside.

Castle Rock, named after the towering rock in the middle of town, was originally a mining town, and utilized the rail road for transportation of it's famous rock, Rhyolite which was shipped all over the front range area. For further information on the history of Castle Rock, please click Here.

Castle Rock, Colorado is a fast growing community in beautiful Douglas County of Colorado. Like many newer communities it is seeing dramatic change in just a few years. Nestled where the high plains meet the Rocky Mountain foothills Castle Rock offers a life like no other. Castle Rock, Colorado - where the small town character is combined with big city amenities.

 

Our climate is known as among the nation’s best, with more than 300 days of sunshine and an average of 255 days of sunshine a year. The average high temperature is 85 degrees in the summer months and 44 degrees in the winter. Annual snowfall is 62.2 inches and the average humidity is 40 percent.

Castle Rock provides several indoor and outdoor leisure opportunities including the Community Recreation Center, 400 acres of parks, and the soon-to-be opened Hidden Mesa open space. Home to several spectacular public and private Golf Course including the
Red Hawk Ridge municipal golf course, Pete Dye designed Plum Creek Country Club and Golf Course, The Country Club at Castle Pines and The Ridge at Castle Pines North. Residents and visitors can also enjoy a full range of shopping experiences from downtown boutiques to department stores and the Outlets at Castle Rock, or enjoy dining on anything from fast food to gourmet.

At approximately 6200 feet above sea level, Castle Rock is higher in elevation then Denver, and may be considered a "foothills' location, even though it is south, rather than west of the metro area. Due to the higher elevation, Castle Rock residents enjoy the eye candy of towering Ponderosa Pine Trees, Gamble Oak, expansive rock outcroppings, and massive bluffs and buttes. The views and vistas here are amazing! Housing in the Castle Rock area exists from the mid 100's to several million dollars, depending on size, location and view. Olde Towne Castle Rock - Much of the housing in this area has kept the charm and character of yester year. Employees of the Santa Fe Railroad and the miners originally lived in these bungalows. The majority of these homes are within walking distance of the historical downtown district, full of award winning restaurants, quaint shops, coffee shops, and pubs. This area has experienced a resurgence in growth, and some of the older homes have been scrapped and built with new homes, replicating the charming exteriors on the outside, but the up to date comforts of modern day design living on the interior. Prices in this area range from the mid $100's to the $600's. In addition to the charming shopping district of Olde Towne, Castle Rock is also home to the Factory Outlet Mall.

 

The Meadows - "The Meadows" is a new, thriving community located on the northwest side of Castle Rock. Development first began in the late 1980's, stalled for a few years with a downturn in the economy, and then really took off in the 1990's and is still going strong. Rolling green hills and mountain views, along with a variety of open space, parks, and walking trails is the theme for this popular community. The area boasts several elementary schools, and a newer middle school (Castle Rock Middle School) and high school. (Castle View) "The Meadows" is also planning on having their own commercial, shopping, and downtown village theme in the very near future. There is much to choose from in size and style in this area, and prices range from the mid $100's to the $700 price range.

Founders Village -
Founders Village is located to the east of the central downtown area. Initially developed in the late $1980's the community completed it's built out in the early 2000's. With approximately 2200 homes, the area has it's own elementary school, private outdoor pool, and a large park with tennis courts, soccer fields, play ground, and walking trails throughout the area. A shopping center was built within the last few years very close to Founders, and has made this area very convenient to daily needs, and access to Old Town, the new commercial shopping areas, and I-25 access. Prices in this community range from the lower $100,s to the upper $300's.

 

Castlewood Ranch - Castlewood Ranch is also located east of Castle Rock, and connects on the northern boundary to Founders Village. This community began developing in the late 1990's, and is still building. This area features a lot of interesting geography, with it's own little "Lost Canyon" with custom homes to the south side of the community. Just to the east of the area, is the state park, Castlewood Canyon State Park." However, it is not possible to get to the neighborhood from the canyon, unless you wanted to jump off the cliff! Access is easily found on Highway 86 to the east of the community. Castlewood Ranch offers large home lots, a newer elementary school, and a new middle school. Prices in this community range from the upper $100's to the million dollar range in the custom canyon areas.

Crystal Valley Ranch - To the south of Castle Rock, is the new community of Crystal Valley Ranch. This neighborhood is located in a beautiful valley, thus getting its name. The neighborhood began developing in the mid 1990's, and is still growing. There is a lot of land still to be developed in this community. One of he largest parks, Ryholite Park, just opened in this community. In this park you are able to climb to the top of one of the many bluffs in town, and see where mining actually took place decades ago. the developers of Crystal Valley built a huge bridge for easy access into the community to make easy access to I-25 and the new Plum Creek Highway Exchange. Crystal Valley has a custom area at the high point of the community, which boasts endless views and vistas of the front range and Palmer Divide. Prices in this community range from the upper $100s to the $900's in the custom home development.

Plum Creek - The country club - golf course community resides on the east side of town, and is easily accessible from the new Plum Creek Exchange intersection at I-25. this community is within walking distance of the historical downtown Castle Rock area, the library, and fairgrounds. The "Pete Dye" designed golf course meanders throughout the community, bringing many challenges to the golfer, and an expansive view of greenery and open areas for the homeowners. the Plum Creek Country Club has a fine dining room, and a bar and grill for less formal occasions. There is also an outdoor pool and sunning terrace in the community. The selection of housing varies in this community from low maintenance stacked condos, to free standing patio homes, and many large custom homes. There are still a few building lots available in this community. Housing prices in this area range from the lower $200's to the $900's.

 


Red Hawk - To the west of town, and just to the south of the Meadows is the community of Red Hawk. Developed in the early 1990's this community is built around the town of Castle Rock's public golf course, Red Hawk. Developed and built buy US Homes, the majority of these homes sit on a hill or a valley, with views of downtown Castle Rock and the
Red Hawk Golf Course. This community is easily accessible by either I-25 and Meadows Parkway, or off he Wolfensberger exit, to the west. There is new building continuing between Red Hawk and The Meadows, and soon the two communities will touch. Prices in this community range from the upper $100's to the $500's.



Castle Pines North - Castle Pines North is a master planned community, that Surrey Ridge borders on the North, I-25 to the East, Castle Pines Village to the South, and dedicated open space to the west. Easily accessible, Castle Pines North has it's own exit off of I-25, Castle Pines Parkway. Recently becoming it's own city, Castle Pines North now boasts it's own healthy commercial districts. There are many neighborhoods within the community. Each area has it's own club house and outdoor pool. Some of the communities are gated. An extensive trail system and open space meander throughout. Snow capped mountain peaks abound just to the west. This is a beautiful community, with prices beginning in the $300's on up. The further west you go, the views increase, and so does the price! The raved about public golf course "
The Ridge" is located here. Castle Pines North also has access to the southern metro area via Monarch Drive, which is an alternative from I-25 to get to the city.

Castle Pines Village - Castle Pines Village is an exclusive gated golf course community nestled within a majestic ponderosa pine forest with dramatic sandstone cliffs, and gamble oaks, situated just south of Castle Pines North. Castle Pines Village includes two private golf courses within its boundaries. The Castle Pines Golf Club and The Castle Pines Country Club.
This 3,000 acre master planned community is located in Douglas County, Colorado approximately ten miles south of the Denver Tech Center. Castle Pines Village is serviced by the
Douglas County school district, and is conveniently located near shopping ranging from the Park Meadows Mall to one of the largest factory outlet malls, each just a few minutes away. This community is not covenant controlled, and has access to Douglas County Open Spaces. Prices in this community range from $400 to $1.5 million.

Metzler Ranch - Metzler Ranch is comprised of a very large parcel of land, that was once Metzler Ranch, owned by the Metzler Family. There are now many different communities within Metzler Ranch, along with the largest and newest commercial area in Castle Rock. When the locals refer to the neighborhood of Metzler Ranch, most likely they are referring to the neighborhood this is just to the south of the commercial area, west of I-25 and just west of Metzler Ranch Park, managed by the town of Castle Rock. This planned community began construction in the mid $1990's, and was completed in the early 2,000s. The community boasts mountain views, views of Castle Rock, and has many ranch style homes, with master bedrooms on the main floor. This community is within walking distance to the park, and commercial areas. It is a hop, skip and a jump to all the main arteries and attractions. Prices in this community range from the $200's to the $400's.

Timber Canyon - (also part of Metzler Ranch) Wow!! is what a lot of individuals say when driving by Timber Canyon. It is difficult to find a community so close in, with towering pine trees, a third acre size lots, and all custom homes. Many of the homes here look like they were imported from the "Old World." Due to the community being totally custom, priced range from $750 on up into the millions.

Pinion Solei - (also part of Metzler Ranch) Tucked away up on a hill in the towering pine trees just to the east of Metzler Ranch, this is also a custom portion of Metzler Ranch. Simply stunning custom homes, many with mountain views, pine trees, and easy access. Priced from $750 on up.

 

Diamond Ridge -When first entering the town of Castle Rock, and exiting off of Meadows/Founders Parkway, if you look to your east, way up on the ridge, you will see some custom estate homes, tucked in and out of rock outcroppings, oak and pine trees. This is the community of Diamond Ridge elegant Colorado living just minutes from Denver/DTC area. 126 large, one to two acre, estates situated on 305 acres. The community has paved roads, a charming club house, pool, and tennis courts. There is a a sprawling 90 acre wildlife preserve, with walking trails, in the middle of the neighborhood. This area is easily accessible to I-25, or to Parker, via Crowfoot Valley. Prices range from $500k on up.

Happy Canyon - It's not a wonder that this canyon is happy! Located at one of the higher elevation points in Douglas County, just to the east of I-25, Happy Canyon boasts some of the finest views in the State. Snow Capped Mountain Peaks, huge meadows, buttes and bluffs to the south are a pleasure to view each and every day. Due to it's beauty, this area was discovered over 40 years ago, so many of the homes on the 200 lots are older, with a few newer homes scattered throughout. Lot sizes range from 1 acre to 5, with the average being around 2 acres.

The Woodlands - The original Woodlands developed in the mid 1980’s. This is a very popular community, from the fact that it is not overly huge, and is centrally located within Castle Rock, and is within walking distance of the recreation center. Woodland Residents relish their full mountain views and open space. This community was designed to compliment. The hillside and native vegetation of the area. The Woodlands boasts a beautiful park in the community with a covered picnic area, volley ball courts, a play tot park, and winding trails. Prices in this community range from $200 to $450,0000

The Newer Woodlands - In the mid 1990’s, the area just to the east of the original Woodlands was developed. Nestled within the hillsides to the north and south, the community is contiguous with the original Woodlands, and keeping with the concept of mountain views, open space, and native vegetation. The majority of these homes were built by Engle and Renaissance Homes. This neighborhood connects with Escvera, a custom home community. Prices in the newer Woodlands Range from $300,000 to $600,000.

Escavera - Escavera has the feel of being secluded in the mountains, yet it is just minutes from I-25 and the commercial shopping areas of Castle Rock. The lots are oversized, ranging from one third of an acre to one acre, moreor less. Open space corridors surround the homes, giving the feel of the lots even being larger than what they area. Several of the sites have towering pine trees and gamble oak, making for a perfect setting for beautiful custom homes. Once in a great while a custom lot comes available. Prices in the custom area range from $650 to over a million. The east side of Escavera, off of Founders Parkway, are single family, low maintenance homes. The front yards are maintained by the home owner association year round. Prices in this area of Escavera range from $300,000 to $600,000.
